News:  Ringing Up Change In Retail Computing: Handheld devices are changing the way that retail decision makers connect to the enterprise

Software applications for the retail market track just about everything that goes on in a retail environment. Yet, without access to a desktop or laptop computer, most of the data's out of reach to a mobile professional. While some software vendors have mobile versions of their enterprise applications, they restrict information to their proprietary systems. Data from other applications either can't be included or requires a separate mobile version of those other apps. The result is either not enough information or additional costs for each mobile app. Now, though, retailers can consolidate data from any number of programs, convert them for easy readability and navigation on a smartphone, and do it all in a matter of hours.
